There are only three pubs actually on the island, all serving real ales and meals as well as having accommodation. While visiting the island we tried all three pubs which had varying menus. The Crown and Anchor Inn is the other traditional inn on the Island, which also provided us with a warm welcome. There is a small bar and a large restaurant which offers amazing food. There are two hand pumps with ever changing real ales, along with the usual beers, wines and spirts. We did not try their lunch menu, choosing to dine on the evenings. The meals are freshly prepared and served in both the restaurant and the bar, and yes they are amazing. I had the vegetarian Tarte Tatin and straight away, before tasting it I was blown away by the presentation and was not disappointed by the taste. This was followed by the courgette spaghetti equally amazing. Fine dining for sure that we returned on two further evenings. The veggie cous cous was excellent. My wife, had the proper fish and chips, and on the other two visits the chef saved her the Lamb and Pork dishes, adapting them to meet her dietary requirement, allium free. Again the presentation of her meals were first class and she was really pleased to have meat dishes specially prepared without the alliums, otherwise she would have been stuck. with fish and chips every night.. Doddington ice cream was on the menu so we had that every time. We did not stay at the Crown and Anchor but I have no doubt their breakfasts would be of the same standard. Great Pub great food. Thank you.

We had 2 great meals. Food cooked perfectly. "Proper fish and chips" was just that. Other meal just as good with perfectly cooked meat and veg. Staff were attentive and friendly. If you don't know the origin of the name of the pub ask them. If you think you know, might be worth checking. Well worth spending time here.

If you want Michelin quality at pub prices then this place is a must! Had the pork belly and wow! thats the kind of food famous chefs dream about! Will definitely be back... Just for the food Could do with a better selection of real ales preferably local and above 4.2% abv, great local gins available so I had them instead (maybe a few too many as some are navy strength ) Will be tempted to rent a room next time to try the breakfast

A friend and I had dinner at the Crown and Anchor on a busy Saturday evening. The menu was refreshingly imaginative. I had the amazing home smoked herring, haddock and salmon which was absolutely fantastic. My friend had the home made burger and said it was superb. Meso broth was excellent. Great, friendly service as well. A gem of a find!

We visited this pub for our two evening meals, during our visit to the island. The food was wonderful. Fresh fish and chips. Perfect after a long drive. The service was attentive and food arrived quickly. We didn't visit the other pubs, as we didn't need to. The food was just perfect. Well done to the staff at the Crown and Anchor. Thank you.

Fabulous "proper pub" ... You can't get better than this ! Service welcoming warm and friendly and the food is totally devine, amazing menu not like your run of the mill pubs ! The cod was cooked to perfection- it was light, moist with lovely hint of liquorice, a real tingle in the taste buds.... They host a brilliant Halloween party too !!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact they have a no mobile phones policy ....I find nothing more depressing than looking around to see people glued to their phones when eating !! It also means people chat, engage, and soak up the great atmosphere ! I met some every interesting people that night. Will definitely be back. Thank you x Ps. Picture is the morning after the night before !!!!!!

*recommend booking in advance for dinner due to limited options on the island* Traditional British pub with a scenic beer garden. The staff were lovely and although the restaurant was fully booked for dinner they managed to sort us some fish and chips to eat in the beer garden. It really tasty- not too greasy with a light batter.
